More than 30 years of experience in criminal justice. He is the former Center for Law & Social Justice Director and Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at Bethune-Cookman University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Criminology from Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL, and his Masters in Criminology from the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL. His fundamental research interests include developing and evaluating delinquency prevention methodologies to address the problems negatively impacting disadvantaged communities. He has an extensive history of working with non-profit faith and community-based social service organizations to develop and effectively achieve their programmatic and outcome goals. He is credited with over 25 peer-reviewed writings, publications, and technical reports, and his work has appeared in the Oxford University Press, All Points Bulletin, Race and Justice, and Crime and Delinquency. He is nationally recognized for his work with law enforcement and Historically Black Colleges and universities in community policing and engagement strategies.
